Illamasqua - Generation Q - Empower Palette

Hello again (I just couldn't stay away!)

You know I literally could spend all day in make-up shops just testing out new products and having a bit of a play with them, ah that would be heaven eh, *sighs*.

Anyways, earlier tonight I went to an Illamasqua master class where they showcased and demoed some of the new products from their new collection Generation Q which were quite cool.

Basically this collection was released last week with the idea that "Generation Q is a clear message to everybody, everywhere that beauty is not young, old, black, white, male or female, but anything, everything and everyone." M.A.C did a similar campaign called All Ages, All Races, All Sexes a while back however their colours were much more natural, muted, and predictable. Illamasqua is quite the opposite, they feel that women of any age should be allowed to wear colour, its just how and where they place it that should be modified to which I completely agree 100%. Also what makes this much different to the previous M.A.C collection is the formulas and textures of the products which felt nourishing without compromising on the final colour payoff.

The old fashion hard rule of make-up for "persons of a certain age" was that it had to be matte, matte, and matte especially around the eyes to avoid "unneccessary" attention to their wrinkly features, how cruel. Well Illamasqua disagrees again. For example their eyeshadow palettes combined a formula that can only be described as part cream, part matte and part texturized sheen to give a more radiant and less dry look. Personally I feel that having a slight sheen on the skin looks youthful and this whole matte look is quite dated and dull.

One of the products that I sample was their new eyeshadow quad palette, Empower, which I loved.

Love it: Melvita Extraordinary Water - Orange Blossom

Hello, Hello...

I'm super excited today, I  have no idea why, I just am. Possibly because there's still a bit of sun shining and I'm desperately still tying to cling on to the last little bits of summer before it gets all cold and grey. I hate winter, oh man do I seriously  hate winter and cold weather! You see when it gets really cold my skin starts to change, it start to become quite dry due to harsh winds that actually cause surface damage while the cold temperature air sucks out the moisture right from within my skin. And lets not forget the damage that excessive indoor heating can cause (well due to the fact that British Gas have raised their gas prices again and the fact that I'm quite poor and ghetto, this won't be a factor for me this year), but anyways I digress, indoor heating lowers humidity levels which causes your skin to lose moisture due to the dry air surrounding it. Plus imagine the havoc of going from a really harsh cold temperature to really warm dry temperature indoors then back outside to cold, that is literally torture for your skin!!

Melvita Extraordinary Water - Great for Dry /Dehydrated Skins.
However my pretties, I have found a great solution, Melvita Extraordinary Water in Orange Blossom, its amazing stuff! This unique water gel is quite the hybrid as its like part serum and part moisturiser which helps to rehydrate water loss deep within the skin. The gel like texture also provide an extra moisture boost when applied before your daily moisturiser as it helps to softens and soothes while hydrating. The formula contains organic glycerine to soften and soy based hyaluronic acid which helps binds water to the skin, aids repair, and assists in the appearance of plumping up the skin while smoothing out fine lines. Finding hyaluronic acid in any moisturising product is fantastic because though we naturally produce  hyaluronic acid in the body (which is important in cellular functions, lubrication and repairing tissue dehydration), as we age, just like everything else in our body, it starts to diminish and we start to experience things like getting sick frequently, joint discomfort and wrinkles! Sorry that was the beauty nerd in me talking, I can't help it, I take my skincare quite seriously, sorry. Melvita actually offers three types of Extraordinary Waters such as Orange Blossom (mentioned above), Narissus (for radiance and brightening), and Rose (for firmness and anti ageing benefits). Each Extraordinary Water retails for £14 which may sound like a lot but all you'll need is about two drops per application. Trust me, I have been using it morning and night for just nearly over a month and there is still half a bottle left, I simply love this!

You know Melvita is a pretty interesting company as it originated in France by a biologist and bee keeper named Bernard Chevilliat in 1983 and all of their beauty products follow strict french organic certification guidelines. Its really is so great to see these sort of companies gaining popularity because in today's society we are bombarded with so many beauty products out there that we sometimes don't realize that most of these products have too many synthetic preservatives and parabens which are not necessarily good for our skins in the long run.

So honestly give Melvita a try, whether it be the Extraordinary Waters mentioned above, or any other beauty products that they do and let me know how you get on as I'd love to hear about it. There are quite a few shops popping around the UK, but in London you can go to several Whole Foods Markets Shops, Harrods Pharmacy, or you can go to one of their shops in Putney or Covent Garden and get a complimentary skin assessment to have products tailored to your specific skin needs. You can also order Melvita online .

That's all for now, take care my lovelies,

Love it: Premier Model Skin Care Range

Hello my lovelies...

Guess what I discovered, Premier Model Skin, have you tried it yet? Honestly, its fantastic! Not sure if you guys know this about me but I'll all about skincare products because without great skin, great make-up can't happen. Most people think that foundation covers a mulitpitude of sins but in fact in only enhances it. Using good quality skin care products is what makes your skin look and feel great because you wouldn't need to use so much foundation, powder, blusher, ect to cover. When you think about it models generally have perfect skin don't they, so clear and so freshed face, it just annoys you doesn't it because not only are they blessed with good looks but good skin. But models really are as clever as they look (no sarcasm here), because they invest in good quality skincare products and have a proper skincare routine because their looks are their livelihoods so its in their best interests to take care of their skin. So if models seem to use the best products, why don't we all use them? Time? Cost? Laziness? Honestly those shouldn't be any excuses when there are so many good products out there such as Premier Model Skin.

Premier Model Skin was created by Premier Model Management, one of London's top modeling agencies run by Carole White (yes that Carole White who dealt with Naomi Campbell! *sigh*) and manufactured by leading professional skincare brand Monu. The range is reasonably priced with it being higher then high street brands, and slightly lower than premium brands. You can have a look at the full range here at . I was lucky enough to try their cleanser (which I love), face scrub, radiance balm, night cream, and blemish treatment.

Premier Cleanser and Eye Make-up Remover
The cleanser was quite luxurious as it gently and effectively cleanse my skin without stripping the skin’s protective barrier. The creamy formula helps prevent dryness as it cleanses and maintains elasticity while it soothes and soften the skin. Plus it has anti ageing ingredients with antioxidant benefits, seriously could it get any better. Oh wait, it does, it has a paraben free formulation along with Evening Primrose, Jojoba and Rosehip oils, omega-3, Shea butter, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and Vitamin B5 in it's formula. Seriously, I'm on my second cleaner, yes, I love it that much.

Premier Facial Scrub
The scrub is great to use 1- 2 times a week as it not sloth's off your dead skin cells but it acts like a very mild microdermabrasion treatment that instantly radiates your skin from underneath. And yes folks, its another paraben free formula, oh how I love that! It also contains Diatomatious earth which is basically very fine silica particles for exfoliation, Papaya enzymes to gently breaks down dead skin cells, and Shea butter to help protect and moisturise the skin. Very nice trust me.

Premier Radiance Balm
The radiance balm is quite a brilliant product as it has a creamy consistency that can be use to not only to hydrate and plump the skin, but also with regular use to help achieve a natural glow. The balm is quite clever because it can be used as a regular moisturiser for normal skin types or as a 10 minute treatment for drier skin by simply applying a slightly more generous layer that you can wipe off after. It has anti inflammatory ingredients such as Bisabolol which helps soothe the skin while Vitamin E has antioxidant benefits to help combat free radicals.

Premier Night Cream
Not only does this night cream rejuvenates and replenish your skin while you sleep but due to Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) formula it also brightens the complexion and improves the texture of your skin as a mild exfoliant to help reveal new skin cells underneath. However if your skin is quite delicate to the touch, I would perhaps skips this as it lists that it can increase your skins over-sensitivity to the sun which can increase a possible sunburn. But its not all doom and gloom for sensitive skin folks as it does have Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and also Coconut oil to sooth, heal and hydrate dry/dehydrate skin.

Premier Blemish Treatment
Now for the past two decades I've tried soooooo many acne treatments all varying in price points from cheap to really expensive ones and still haven't found one that works well for my spots, and by spots I do not mean those tiny, little whiteheads spots, but those huge spots that lie deep underneath the skin and take ages to go down and heal. Though it has anti-bacterial salicylic acid and witch hazel in their formula, I found that it wasn't strong enough to tackle my deep spots. You see my skin is used to using quite harsh acne creams that contain benzoyl peroxide so when I use milder salicylic acid formulas it takes much longer for me to see results, and I'm quite impatient with spots, well aren't we all?. Anyways I would recommend this if you have mild acne rather than to someone who has severe acne spots as it this will work better for you.

I seriously do love and recommend that you give this range a try as I was quite impressed with it (and still am!). To be honest I'm quite surprised that many people haven't picked up on it which I largely think its due to its online distribution and lack of shop locations that stock it. I actually came across it at T K Maxx of all places!! But for now you can order it directly at . I would suggest that you try the Premier Model Kit as its a very good way to try all of the 7 products in handy travel sizes for £45.00.

Anyways, hope this helps and you enjoyed it, more to come...x

Things your momma should have told you - Honey Lemon Tea vs the Flu

So I actually thought this year would be different. I went home for 5 weeks and when i can back to england i was like "wow, im not sick for the holidays this time! yes, sweet!"

Well, 2 days later, it started ..fuuuck. and by the 2nd day my head felt like someone was using it as a bowling ball just about to throw it down the lane..and lets not forget the "i feel cold, i feel hot, i feel cold shakes"..brilliant.. Having the flu makes you feel pretty awful, but i found something that works pretty well to help speed up and cut down on the flu-ish feeling, home made honey lemon tea!

It's so simple, just boil water and pour into a mug, slice lemons and place them in the mug, then add some honey (and some brown sugar is you want it a bit sweeter, but i rarely add sugar as the honey is good enough).Yep that easy, so good. If your really sick, just take two paracetamol/tylenol to reduce swelling. By drink plently of honey lemon tea, your body is adding fluids in your system to help flush out toxins/virus. Here is what they Honey and Lemon can do for you..

Honey is known to be an immunity builder while it detoxifies. Its antibacterial and antioxidant properties aid the digestive system, helping to fight diseases and maintain good health, and also contains traces of enzymes, minerals, amino acids and vitamins. A table spoon of honey on its own is also good for a sore throat. But it also acts energy booster, natural sweetner, helps with sleeplessness, great cure for a handover (mix yogurt, orange juice), and its organic.

Lemons are a rich source of vitamin C and they also contains vitamins like vitamin B, riboflavin and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium as well as proteins and carbohydrates. Guess what else lemons can do:

1.Good for stomachLemon can help relieve many digestion problems when mixed with hot water. These include nausea, heartburn and parasites. Due to the digestive qualities of lemon juice, symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, bloating and belching are relieved.
2.Excellent for Skin Care Lemon, being a natural antiseptic medicine, can participate to cure problems related to skin. Lemon is a vitamin C rich citrus fruit that enhances your beauty, by rejuvenating skin from within and thus bringing a glow on your face. Daily consumption of lemon water can make a huge difference in the appearance of your skin. It acts as an anti-aging remedy and can remove wrinkles and blackheads. Lemon water if applied on the areas of burns can fade the scars. As lemon is a cooling agent, it reduces the burning sensation on the skin.
3.Aids in Dental Care
4.Cures Throat Infections
Lemon is an excellent fruit that aids in fighting problems related to throat infections, sore throat and tonsillitis as it has an antibacterial property. For sore throat, dilute one-half lemon juice with one-half water and gargle frequently.
5.Good for Weight Loss
6.Controls High Blood Pressure
7.Assist in curing Respiratory Disorders
8.Good for treating Rheumatism and Arthritis
9.Reduces Fever
Lemon water can treat a person who is suffering from cold, flu or fever. It helps to break fever by increasing perspiration.
10.Acts as a blood purifier

So simple to make, taste great, dirt cheap and unlike buying neocitron no added preservatives, or ingredients you can't pronounce. Honestly you'll be back to your old self after making some honey and lemon tea's while your sick.

Hope that helps..

Things your mamma should have told you: random tips

Hello again, seeing as how its been a while since my last "Things your momma should have told you" post...I'd thought iI'd chuck a couple of pearls of wisdom (or ramblings) at you... in no perticular order...

1. Body Scrub
-Though I'm a sucker for a good body scrub, I'm much more of a cheap skate..I mean if I have the £12.50 i'd probaly spend it on something else...anyways, which brings me to my tip..
**buy the coarses' salt you can find (sea salt I guess)and mix it with either a gentle/moisturizer liquid soap (Dove I guess) or baby oil/ body oil (baby oil/ body oil would be great cause it nourishes the skin after..i've actually taken this a bit further and used coffee grains after i've made a fresh cup of coffee (which i dont drink cause i hate the taste, but love the and used the damp grains directly on my skin in the shower in a circular motion...smooth...i believe caffene is good for the skin as caffeine's has anti-inflammatory benefits.....and of course after all that scrubbing, dont forget to moisturize!!

**drinks lots of water as it helps plump up the skin and removes toxics in the body. also, helps curb your appetite...and if you have a hard time drinking water, at a bit of lemon slices to that (Vitamin C!!)

3. Make-up brushes
**if you find MAC make-up brushes too expensive, head to your art supply store as they have brushes that are made well and do the same job...

4. Common Make-up mistakes
**if your foundation looks fake(or like a mask), rub moisturizer or dampen hands with water and press gently onto the face as this will help dilute your foundation, then blend, blend, blend..
**if your eyebrows are filled in and look really harse, just get a powder puff with a wee bit of face power and press on them..

That's all that I can think of at the top of my head but there's more comin', so don't you worry your pretty little heads off...

Take it easy,

Holy S#%$J#!

I totally forgot I even had this blog.....*sigh*.... will update more...promise..

hope you all have been well since my absence...
-miss yas.

Things your momma should have told you: dry lips

Hello sweets,

here is a tip that I alway pass on whenever I can, I have a lot of women come up to ask me how do I get rid of dry/flakey lips...its simple. Forget about buying expensive lipscuffs (they really don't work and its a waste of money + you don't know whats really in them).

All you need is...
-1 tablespoon of olive oil (virgin would be great)
-1 teaspoon of sugar

Mix the sugar ontop of the oil and stir with your finger, then dab on your lips and move in a circular motion. This helps loosen the top dry layer, while helping the blood circulation. the Sugar exfoliates while the olive oil conditions, brilliant. cheap, easy and effective.

anyways, speak soon,

You don't say....

Here’s an interesting little read I found yesterday regarding airbrushed images in adverts from The Daily Telegraph. It seems British lawmakers are trying to ban photoshopped images after fury arose regarding legendary supermodel Twiggy in an Oil of Olay ad. Images show Twiggy, who’s in her 60’s, as having glowing and radiant skin which is a clear result from having been heavily airbrushed and is looking less then natural without her lines, wrinkles, and jowls (but nevertheless still looking lovely for her age I might add).

Jo Swinson, the MP for East Dunbartonshire, told the Telegraph: Today's unrealistic idea of what is beautiful means that young girls are under more pressure now than they were even five years ago. Airbrushing mean that adverts contain completely unattainable images that no one can live up to in real life.

While I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, it’s interesting to see a general interest in the country’s female youth culture as I agree some airbrush images have gone too far, but honestly I think that a positive female image starts at home. Too many people are quick to blame someone else for their children’s problems (yes, I'm sure I'll change my tune when I have kids, *nodes head* yada yada).
