Things your momma should have told you - Honey Lemon Tea vs the Flu

So I actually thought this year would be different. I went home for 5 weeks and when i can back to england i was like "wow, im not sick for the holidays this time! yes, sweet!"

Well, 2 days later, it started ..fuuuck. and by the 2nd day my head felt like someone was using it as a bowling ball just about to throw it down the lane..and lets not forget the "i feel cold, i feel hot, i feel cold shakes"..brilliant.. Having the flu makes you feel pretty awful, but i found something that works pretty well to help speed up and cut down on the flu-ish feeling, home made honey lemon tea!

It's so simple, just boil water and pour into a mug, slice lemons and place them in the mug, then add some honey (and some brown sugar is you want it a bit sweeter, but i rarely add sugar as the honey is good enough).Yep that easy, so good. If your really sick, just take two paracetamol/tylenol to reduce swelling. By drink plently of honey lemon tea, your body is adding fluids in your system to help flush out toxins/virus. Here is what they Honey and Lemon can do for you..

Honey is known to be an immunity builder while it detoxifies. Its antibacterial and antioxidant properties aid the digestive system, helping to fight diseases and maintain good health, and also contains traces of enzymes, minerals, amino acids and vitamins. A table spoon of honey on its own is also good for a sore throat. But it also acts energy booster, natural sweetner, helps with sleeplessness, great cure for a handover (mix yogurt, orange juice), and its organic.

Lemons are a rich source of vitamin C and they also contains vitamins like vitamin B, riboflavin and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium as well as proteins and carbohydrates. Guess what else lemons can do:

1.Good for stomachLemon can help relieve many digestion problems when mixed with hot water. These include nausea, heartburn and parasites. Due to the digestive qualities of lemon juice, symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, bloating and belching are relieved.
2.Excellent for Skin Care Lemon, being a natural antiseptic medicine, can participate to cure problems related to skin. Lemon is a vitamin C rich citrus fruit that enhances your beauty, by rejuvenating skin from within and thus bringing a glow on your face. Daily consumption of lemon water can make a huge difference in the appearance of your skin. It acts as an anti-aging remedy and can remove wrinkles and blackheads. Lemon water if applied on the areas of burns can fade the scars. As lemon is a cooling agent, it reduces the burning sensation on the skin.
3.Aids in Dental Care
4.Cures Throat Infections
Lemon is an excellent fruit that aids in fighting problems related to throat infections, sore throat and tonsillitis as it has an antibacterial property. For sore throat, dilute one-half lemon juice with one-half water and gargle frequently.
5.Good for Weight Loss
6.Controls High Blood Pressure
7.Assist in curing Respiratory Disorders
8.Good for treating Rheumatism and Arthritis

So simple to make, taste great, dirt cheap and unlike buying neocitron no added preservatives, or ingredients you can't pronounce. Honestly you'll be back to your old self after making some honey and lemon tea's while your sick.

Hope that helps..
